WHAT IS AN EICR?

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a formal inspection and testing process used to assess the condition of a property’s fixed electrical installation.

During an EICR, an electrician examines the electrical system and carries out appropriate testing to identify deterioration, damage, defects, potentially dangerous conditions and areas where the installation may no longer meet the requirements applicable to it.

The inspection can include the consumer unit or distribution board, wiring, sockets, switches, lighting circuits, protective devices, earthing and bonding. Once testing is complete, you receive a report detailing the condition of the installation and any observations identified during the inspection.
